Can't open G-mail account
My wife and I are 72 years old. We realize Google and G-mail
are directed to folks much younger than us and much more tech-savy.
My wife had had a gmail account for over 12 years (Da*****@gmail.com). It was originally set
her by one of our daughters. My wife has no clue what her password is. Here is
what has happened.
Linda (my wife) has had an iphone for number of years.
Extremely old version. Unfortunately, she never saved her gmail password.
However, the password evidently became embedded (not sure if correct term) in
the iphone so she never had to enter the password to open her gmail. This went
on for years.
Two weeks ago, her phone finally croaked. She bought a new
iphone 16 plus from Apple and supposedly, all info on old phone was transferred
to new phone by Apple (took 3 hours). However, the gmail password that was
‘embedded’ in her phone did not transfer. When she tried to open her gmail
account, it asked for her user email address (never did on old phone) and asked
for password. She had no idea what that was. So she clicked on ‘forgot
password’ and it indicated a code was sent to the back-up email address when
the account was created. It was daughter’s email address from 12 years ago
(Skyler…………@a**.net).
So we called our daughter and asked about the code. She said
she closed that account 10 years ago and had no idea what the password was that
she created for her mom back then.
We tried a couple of other approaches to try to get into her
gmail account, to no avail, then we were locked out because of too many failed
attempts. We had no idea that would happen. We waited a few hours and tried
again but still locked out.
Unfortunately, we waited a day, tried a couple of times but
still locked out.
Linda has had this email address for years, everyone she
knows and everything she does uses this email address. But for over a week now,
she can’t use it. She is so upset. To just delete the account and create a new
address would be so overwhelming for her to contact everyone and change all
apps .
We are 72 years old and Tech morons. Evidently, there is no
phone number to call. She doesn’t know how to solve this dilemma. So she is
asking for help or direction. All the you tube videos and websites on this
subject are so confusing.
Please tell us what we can do????
