Are the Gmail mail messages still available when using the Gmail webmail interface?
If the messages not visible in the Gmail interface, your remaining option for recovery is whatever backups Google might have available, or from the sender or another recipient of the mail message.
I’m unfamiliar with Google Gmail backup and recovery practices.
