how can Apple let this email disaster happen

My wife has an iPad Air and a recent iPhone, both with updated OS, 2GB iCloud storage. She doesn’t have a computer for third-party hardware store so she has iCloud backup weekly.

Yesterday she discovered almost five years (11/2020-4/25) of her emails had vanished. I spent two hours with Apple Support today with a diligent senior advisor. Yup, they’re gone. Nope, they can’t be restored.

The loss of five years’ email is a stunning blow. All the attached documents legal, financial, personal — all gone — five years’ emails to and from our children, the notes and letters from friends now deceased, everything lost.

And what’s Apple’s response? Gee, we’re sorry?

i’ve trusted Apple since I bought my first Mac in 1984 and stuck with them ever since. No more.
