What is the OS process BosUpdateProxy, and can it be stopped or paused?
For the past month my Mac's fan has been running almost all the time. This never happened before, but now it's almost constant. I checked Activity Monitor and I find a process that I don't know that is uploading a whole lot of data. This scares me, what is being uploaded from my computer, and to where?
I think that's what's causing my laptop to overheat. If I turn off WiFi the uploads stop and the fan slows down and eventually stops; so the two things definitely seem related. If this has been happening for a while, I have no idea why the overheating has started new; did my OS update itself somehow without my permission? (I do update the OS but I specifically avoid upgrading to Sequoia to avoid overtaxing my system)
I'd appreciate help in figuring out what this is doing, what data it is uploading and to where, and if it's necessary or if it can be disabled somehow. Thank you.
