Yeah, and the “pervert” spam threatened to distribute compromising photos of me. Some well-known celebs want to date me. My child / cousin / cat was in a collision / arrested / fell ill somewhere and needs cash for bail / surgery / concert tickets. And folks in distant countries are recently deeply concerned about my overdue toll road bills.
Apple messages usually have good grammar and spelling, and will ~always use the Apple.com domain.
If you’re in doubt about the validity of anything supposedly from an organization, use your own web search or the contact info on the back of your payment card or bill, or whatever other probably-legitimate source of contact info, and contact the organization directly. Or look up the payment information using the organization’s own website. (Not using a phone number or a link from the questionable message, though!)
PS: Sending email addresses and calling or texting phone numbers can unfortunately be faked.

I would not trust it either. That address is certainly not from Apple. It is a common scam where users will receive these threats and want them to call or click a link to give the scammer their personal information. It is then that your account would be compromised.

I got a number of text messages that were supposedly from the U.S. Postal Service – although the scammers almost never got its proper name right.
They were to the effect that there was a package addressed to me that could not be delivered without a proper Zip code. Somehow the rest of the address wasn't good enough for the "Postal Service" to determine my Zip code, but it was enough for them to determine my cell phone number.
The messages always came from phone numbers with a country code for the Philippines, and always contained links ending in some domain that was fairly new and popular with scammers. Not that you can trust the surface appearance of a link, but these scammers weren't even doing a good job of disguising the hook.)
But hey, these couldn't possibly be the messages that the real U. S. Postal Service was warning about? Right?

Jim,
Thank you for that. I just noticed I have receipts from Apple icloud and payment is up to date so I should not worry.
