iCloud data syncing issue on my iPhone

There is an option saying “Some of your iCloud data isn’t syncing” and in order to sync them, I need to enter my Apple account password.. I have tried it multiple times, waiting and waiting.. and it’s just stuck, I entered my password once and the popup was stuck loading for more than an hour.. and it STILL does not sync.. 2nd image shows the screen where it’s stuck.

  • Turn off Low Power Mode. With it on some data such as iCloud Photo syncing is paused.
  • Did you reset your phone after forgetting your Passcode? The end to end encrypted data will not be able to sync again since the data is encrypted with the Old Passcode and unreadable using the new Passcode. In that case you should have the option to delete the end-to-end encrypted data (usually Messages, Health data and Passwords) in iCloud, so you can begin syncing new end-to-end encrypted data with your current Passcode

Thanks for explaining — it sounds like your iPhone is stuck in a sync/authentication loop with iCloud, which could absolutely be preventing your Notes (or other data) from syncing or showing up. This is especially common after:

  • Downgrading iOS
  • Resetting devices
  • iCloud account sync interruptions

Here’s what you can do to try to resolve the stuck sync and potentially trigger recovery of your Notes:

Step-by-Step Fix for "Some of your iCloud data isn’t syncing"

1. Force Restart Your iPhone

Do this first to clear any temporary glitch:

  • iPhone 8 and later: Quickly press and release Volume Up → Quickly press and release Volume Down → Press and hold the Side button until the Apple logo appears.

2. Sign Out and Back Into iCloud (If Possible)

This can reset the iCloud sync

Go to Settings > [Your Name] > Scroll down > Sign Out

  • Enter your Apple ID password
  • Restart your iPhone
  • Sign back in to iCloud from the same Settings page

Let your phone stay connected to Wi-Fi and plugged in after this.

3. Check System Status

Go to: Apple System Status

Look for iCloud NotesApple ID, and iCloud Account & Sign In. If anything is showing yellow/red, the issue may be on Apple’s side.

4. Reset Network Settings

Sometimes sync hangs due to network glitches:

  • Go to Settings > General > Transfer or Reset iPhone > Reset > Reset Network Settings
  • This will remove saved Wi-Fi passwords but not your data

5. Try Logging into iCloud on a Browser

Visit https://www.icloud.com from a computer or Safari:

  • Log in with your Apple ID
  • Try accessing Notes from there
  • If you’re prompted to verify your device or approve sign-in, do so — this may trigger the stalled connection to unfreeze

6. Wait with the Device Plugged In

After any of these steps, let the iPhone sit on a reliable Wi-Fi connectionplugged into power, and unlocked, especially if syncing large amounts of data. It can sometimes take hours.

Bonus Option — Apple Support Tool

If all else fails, you can use Apple’s iCloud Recovery tools with a support agent:

Go to https://getsupport.apple.com and choose:

Apple ID → iCloud, FaceTime & Messages → iCloud data not syncing → Chat or Call

Explain you’re stuck in sync and urgently need access to deleted Notes, and ask if there's a way to escalate a manual server-side recovery.

If an actual person uses AI to help them write an answer, they are still an actual person. I regularly link to Apple support documents but that doesn't make me an Apple employee. It just means I know how to use available tools.

Ok, then I also assume:

  • The device is not managed by a school or work environment.
  • You have not turned on Advanced Data Protection.
  • You have not turned on Stolen Device Protection.
  • You are using two factor authentication.

Do you have any other devices signed into your iCloud. Check at Settings > [name on top], and scroll to the bottom. I only wonder about that since for a device using an OS version before 16, I don't think it supports end to end encrypted data, which may have some relevance to the message you are seeing.

For me, I have only seen that message when changing the Passcode after the previous one had been forgotten, which apparently is not the case for you. I have seen other posts where users had that message and it was recommended to sign out of iCloud and back in. When that was done there was an option to "Reset end to end encryption" that solved the problem.

I don't know if today is the best day to try and resolve the problem as there have been many iCloud problems noted on the System Status page including sign in problems.
