How to fix Mail app when it goes offline?

My 'Mail" app has gone offline and I have done everything to get it back online to no avail, it was fine on Wednesday but the problem started yesterday afternoon, Bigpond as well as Gmail & Cloud have been affected, has anyone else got this problem and also a fix?
