Magic trackpad 3.1.4 connected but not listed in System settings Mini M2 pro, Ventura 13.7.6

Using the supplied cable it then allowed basic movement of the pointer and then after disconnecting the cable it remained working in a basic manor. Great I thought, but then it wouldn't scroll !

However there are no options to customise from the system settings

The trackpad was listed in the bluetooth setting as disconnected but upon clicking connect it has remained shown as connected, where the settings options do nothing.

Ive tried rebooting, reconnecting with the cable, updated to the latest Ventura etc. but no joy

I realise Ventura is not the latest version but 2 reasons I cannot update yet 1) I'm in the middle of a project using software that is not officially supported if updated, and b) My internet is unstable at the moment.

Any ideas would be appreciated.
