iPod restoration frozen for over an hour
MODEL: iPod classic, 80gb, A1238, says 2007 copyright
BACKGROUND INFORMATION: The hand-me-down iPod my mom just gave to me has been acting up for the past week or so. It shut down after about half an hour of use, coming back (showing) full battery after around an hour. Also probably worth mentioning it looks like it has the black spot of death, but I thought that only happened to nanos? Either way, it’s shown the “restore with iTunes” screen a few times before, then came back perfectly fine. That was until a few days ago, and it hadn’t gone back to normal since.
CURRENT PROBLEM: Today, I decided to restore the iPod by connecting it to my mom’s Mac. The loading icon next to the iPod in Finder has been frozen for around an hour now. It won’t let me eject, and I’m scared to take it off when it says “Do not disconnect.” (since the battery is probably swollen and I’m scared it’s going to explode or something). I tried calling a local tech repair shop to see if they still did iPods, and they just completely ignored it. What do I do?
