mojave finder not showing all files

I did save as in both Word and Excel and they are not where I saved them. However, when I do a search they it shows me that they are in fact exactly where I saved them. Why does Finder not show them?

iMac 27″, macOS 10.14

Maybe somehow Office rendered those files invisible (recently at least Chrome used to do that to its downloads)?


Try if Shift-Command-. (that is a period at the end) makes them visible (repeat that key combo to return to default view). If yes, you can use the Terminal to permanently fix those files' invisible attribute.


Or maybe Finder is acting up. You might fix that by force quitting Finder, rebooting or via a detour to safe boot.
