We have a family group text with about 13 people. The other day, we noticed a new number on it that isn't in any of our contacts. How can we find out who added this number and when it was added?

Add and remove people in group text messages on your iPhone or iPad - Apple Support
If you scroll through the message thread it will tell you when and who added said contact.
