iphone 14 pro max has lost internet (both cell & WiFi)

The phone is connecting properly to cell towers and WiFi (when available.)

It receives texts and phone calls.

BUT: It is not working for anything that is internet dependent… map apps, Safari, newspaper apps, etc.

I have quit all the apps and opened them again. The shut down the phone and rebooted it. Nothing works so far. Any suggestions?

(This occurred after I was in an area with no WiFi. I used up all my providers data allowance. No indication that the two are related, but I’m including the information just in case.)

Basics first:

Do you have a 3rd party VPN installed, even if you are not using it? If so, delete the VPN profile in Settings/General/VPN & Device Management/VPN. Don't just turn it off; delete the profile, then restart your device. If that fixes it, you can try reinstalling VPN, but probably shouldn't.

If that isn’t the issue after you delete any VPN profiles (be sure to check, even if you think you don’t have VPN), next would be to Reset Network Settings:

  • Open Settings
    • Tap General
    • Tap Transfer or Reset Phone
    • Tap  Reset
    • Tap Reset Network Settings

    • This will erase all Wi-Fi passwords, but will not result in any other data loss.
