How do I prevent Pages from unexpectedly closing on Mac?

Several time over the last few days, usually while I am just reading or adding comments, Pages totally drops out but the 'crash' notice does not come up so there is no problem report. It is more like something presses the "Command Q" sequence and the screen goes to opening page.

I have found out that if I immediately bring up the dock and click on "Pages" it brings back everything I had up including the one I was working/reading.

Is there any way to 'disable' whatever this is?

I am using Sequoia v15.5 and Pages v14.4. I have never experienced any spontaneous minimized document occurrences without user input with this, or any previous version of Pages.

If the "screen goes to opening page" in your original discussion is the Pages file chooser (not Template chooser) that would allude to Pages being enabled in System Settings > iCloud < See All > Pages (==⦿).

Otherwise, I cannot reproduce the "hands off" Pages document minimizing to the Dock issue here.

Don't press cmd+M while in Pages as that will minimize the current document to the Dock. That is equivalent to clicking the yellow dot ("traffic light") in the document title bar. The other keystroke that will do this is if you are in the Safari browser and press option+cmd+H which will hide other applications, and the open Pages document will then behave as previously described.

As you have observed, clicking the Pages application icon in the Dock restores the document to its original location on the screen for any circumstance in the first paragraph.

My hands are nowhere near the keyboard most of the time this happens and even when it does while I am typing, I am a 75 year typest (fm 11th HS) so doubt I could accidentally hit those two keys especially when I am typing as it is totally text.

I understand about the "HIDE" sequence but have never used it since I have no reason to use it especially during an editing session.
