unwanted right angle expression automation lines with no points/nodes

Logic Pro 11.1.2 - For some unknown reason the expression automation line that I have drawn in a midi track, which was created in the piano roll by entering nodes individually (not by using a fader in real time), sharp right angles will sometimes be created in the automation line and these angles will not have a node, just clean sharp 90 degree angle. Without a node there is nothing to click on for adjusting it or eliminating it. I have spent hours trying find an answer. I did try the update to 11.2 hoping for a resolution but after doing so all of my mixes were messed up so I had use Time Machine to go back to 11.1.2. I am desperate to find an answer as I rely heavily upon the automation that I manually draw and fine-tune. No matter which way I drag or even delete the points around the unwanted right angles as seen in the image below, the right angles will not go away.
