How can I stop my Apple Watch from creating segments during bike ride?

This is similar to Why did my ultra repetitively announce it… - Apple Community

During many rides, my watch goes nuts creating one segment after another. I'm not touching the screen, and I have that sleeve rolled back above the watch. When this happens, I move the watch around on my wrist, and it keeps doing it. Segment... segment... segment... many with zero distance. When this starts, I have to turn off my ride on the watch, which of course I would rather not do. I have the crown on the upper side of my wrist because having it on the lower side bumps into my gloves and calls 911, something they have apparently become accustomed to.

I don't want to turn off Splits, just Segments. This Segments issue is making the watch useless for my rides.

I got a new Series 10 about a month ago. My previous Series 4 did the same thing, but not as badly.
