How do I resolve AOL email issues with missing emails on iPhone?

my primary email is through AOL and is a legacy Verizon FiOS account. I’ve never really had a problem with it.


Now I’m getting a tiny subset of emails on my iPhone. I’ve downloaded the AOL app and logged in with the appropriate email address and I have over 5800 emails. If I look on my iPhone I have 39 emails. Same account. Different interface. I keep up in terms of updates on iOS and I have no idea what has changed. This is a very recent development.


i’m currently on iOS 18.5 on an iPhone 14 Pro Max.


does anyone out there have an inkling as to what is going on? When I go online and search for suggestions in terms of working with AOL email a number of suggestions are made about changing settings that I have no idea how to get to.


If anyone has any ideas I would love to hear them.

On your iPhone are you using the AOL Mail app or the built in Mail app from Apple. If the AOL app, most here won't know much about the settings the app offers. If the Apple native Mail app, open Settings > Apps > Mail > Accounts and tap your AOL account, then go through the settings available there. If this doesn't help, you'll need to reach out to AOL directly as Apple doesn't own AOL.
