Why is my Apple Watch not receiving alerts from iPhone XS Max after iOS 18.5 update?

my apple watch series 5 no loger shows the red dot symbol or shows alerts from my iphone xs max,the messages are on the watch but i have to press the symbol on the watch itself it no longer alerts the watch via heptic or the red dot indicator?any help would be great,ive done all the usual checks,even reset both the devices fully but no luck,aaple say it should still work running ios 18.5 on my iphone xs max and apple watch series 5 running 10.6.1
