I am unable to delete photos from iCloud after changing my phone number

I changed phone numbers on my phone about a month ago and now it’s not allowing me to delete my photos from iCloud.

Why This Happens

When you change your number, Apple may:

  • Treat it as a new device connection
  • Prompt for re-verification (especially with two-factor authentication)
  • Temporarily block changes like deleting iCloud photos if your iCloud settings aren’t fully synced or verified

What You Can Do to Fix It

1. Check iCloud Account Status

  • Go to Settings > [your name] > iCloud > Photos
  • Make sure iCloud Photos is turned ON
  • If it says “Syncing paused” or asks to verify your account, follow the on-screen steps

2. Confirm Trusted Number

  • Go to Settings > [your name] > Sign-In & Security > Trusted Phone Numbers
  • Make sure your new number is added and verified
  • If not, tap Edit > Add Trusted Phone Number

3. Sign Out and Back In (Only if Safe to Do)

Only do this if your photos are fully backed up to iCloud or elsewhere.
  • Settings > [your name] > Sign Out
  • Restart your phone
  • Sign back in and re-enable iCloud Photos

4. Try Deleting via Web
