Why This Happens
When you change your number, Apple may:
- Treat it as a new device connection
- Prompt for re-verification (especially with two-factor authentication)
- Temporarily block changes like deleting iCloud photos if your iCloud settings aren’t fully synced or verified
What You Can Do to Fix It
1. Check iCloud Account Status
- Go to Settings > [your name] > iCloud > Photos
- Make sure iCloud Photos is turned ON
- If it says “Syncing paused” or asks to verify your account, follow the on-screen steps
2. Confirm Trusted Number
- Go to Settings > [your name] > Sign-In & Security > Trusted Phone Numbers
- Make sure your new number is added and verified
- If not, tap Edit > Add Trusted Phone Number
3. Sign Out and Back In (Only if Safe to Do)
Only do this if your photos are fully backed up to iCloud or elsewhere.
- Settings > [your name] > Sign Out
- Restart your phone
- Sign back in and re-enable iCloud Photos
4. Try Deleting via Web
