Unable to play downloaded music from CDs on my new iPhone 16 Pro?

When I transferred to from my iPhone X to the new iPhone 16pro, my entire music library did transfer from my old phone, but when I go to play the songs on the 16, it says "This item is not currently available in your country or region." These are all the tunes that I downloaded from CDs purchased over the years. So, I own them; they were all purchased in the US. The only songs the 16 allows me to play are the ones that I purchased from the iTunes store. Is there anyway to have access to the rest of my songs?

Purchased music normally does not transfer from one phone to another – with the possible exception of music that you purchased from the iTunes Store.

This makes me think that you are either

  • A subscriber to iTunes Match, or
  • A subscriber to Apple Music who has turned on "Sync Library"

and that the issue might have something to do with restrictions on synced copies of songs.

I subscribe to Apple Music – but keep "Sync Library" turned off. The Music library on my Mac has a lot of music that I bought on CD (with a few songs or albums that I bought from the iTunes Store). To load a selection of that music onto my Phone, I plug the iPhone into the Mac and use Finder-based ("manual") synchronization.
