"Allowed websites only" not working on parental controlled iPad

I am extremely upset that I just discovered that the restriction “Allowed websites only” is not working. It had worked previously, but then I randomly looked at my child’s iPad and saw that they had access to any website, including adult ones.

So all this time, I thought she was only able to view the websites I allowed, but apparently she’s been going to any website she wanted, including adult ones. I have no idea how long she has had free access, because the history on the browser only goes so far.

The fact that this is offered as a parental control, but it fails, is mind-boggling. I saw that some other people were having these problems and were advised to reboot to fix it, but the fact that this is even an issue is ridiculous.
