How to install iMovie on an old Mac with macOS Big Sur 11.7.10?

I am using an old Mac (Around 10 years ago)

Its version now is MacOS Big Sur 11.7.10 (should be the latest one for this device)

I want to install iMovie on it but it told me iMovie need to be installed on macOS 14.6 or newer.

Thus, I cannot use iMovie on it.

What can I do? How can I install and run it on this Mac?

Hi,

In the event that you had iMovie 10 on your Mac at any point in time, even if you lost or deleted it, then you would be able to obtain or update the highest version of iMovie that your operating system will run. If you bought your computer new then it would have come with iMovie 10 installed in it. If you bought it as a used machine, then iMovie may not have been installed on it, in which case you would be out of luck.

Assuming that you had iMovie 10 on your computer at any point in time, try the following procedure:

To update/redownload iMovie 10, drag your iMovie 10 app from the Applications folder into the trash, but do not empty the trash. (You can skip that step if you had iMovie 10 on your computer before, but deleted it.) Sign in to the app store and open your account folder by clicking on your name at the bottom of the app store side bar. You will see your purchases displayed, including iMovie 10. Redownload/update iMovie from there. If not

successful, drag your present iMovie app out of the trash (if you moved it there) and return it to the Applications folder.
