How can I switch current music from my iPhone to Apple Watch?

If I have music playing on my phone and I go into the Apple Watch music app there is no way to switch the current music playing to my watch. If I press the device icon in the top right it shows me every other device in my house that I can play music from but not my watch. If i select control other devices then i can switch to my watch but that does not switch the music it just allows me to play whatever i previously had playing on my watch. The annoying thing is this is really simple in the Spotify apple watch app!!
