WI-FI auto-join box not visible on Macbook Air

I have exhausted my ability to search the net for an answer to this.

On my Macbook Air, there are no boxes for auto-join for wi-fi.

Can you help me activate this option, please? Keep the advice simple. Thanks!

Does macOS automatically join a most preferred network if it becomes available? If a wi-fi network is auto-joined, but then another auto-joinable network becomes available, does macOS automatically switch to the newly available network if it's most preferred? In other words: I have Wi-Fi networks A and B. Both are set to auto-join. B is most preferred compared to A. Only A is active or in range, so my Mac connects to it. The question then is: if B becomes active or in range while it's connected to A, will my Mac automatically connect to B without any input?

M2 MacBook Air disconnecting from WiFi We have a new M2 MacBook Air that was repeatedly disconnecting from wifi while a friend was visiting recently. It had not been doing it before and it appears to have gone back to normal after they left. Looking at the WiFi details under the wifi icon in the menu, I noticed that while the friend was here, the PHY Mode was showing 802.11n. Before and after his visit, it was 802.11ac. He has a pretty new Windows laptop and a Pixel 6, so both of those devices should have connected at 802.11ac or better. Our routers are only a year old and are 802.11ax capable. Our other 2 Macs are intel Macs, normally connecting at 802.11ac (but showing 802.11n during his visit) and did not have this problem. Is it possible that this new M2 Mac simply can’t handle the older protocol or could it be something else? I can’t find any info that would indicate that should be a problem. Anybody have any thoughts about this? Thanks

Yes. It connects fine to any network. The issue is it remembers the networks but doesn't automatically connect to the same wifi eg house wifi without needing to put the password every time.

On my other devices such as ipad, iphone and my other laptops, they automatically connect to the wifi netwroks they have previously been connected to. There should be a box that says - "auto-connect" next to each network however it is not visible.

Have you connected to a network? It is a per network option, not a general one.
