How to hide reading list when clicking on the URL bar in Safari?

When I click on the URL Bar, a reading list appears below on the screen. I am doing searches on gift ideas on a private tab, and they show up on the screen when I click on the URL bar. I want them hidden to be discreet How can I hide or remove them?
