Apple Watch Ultra trail strap has burst after minimal wear over 8 months but told by Apple this is covered under warranty? Is this correct ? Has anyone had a similar isssue ?

Apple offers a 1 Year Limited Manufacturers Warranty to cover defects in material or workmanship, not wear and tear. If you truly believe this is a defect, you can take it to your nearest Apple Store or Apple Authorized Reseller and have them evaluate it, if they determine it a defect they will replace it at no cost. But if this damage occurred from wear and tear from you, they will not cover it.
I'm curious ... if Apple told you it would be covered, why would you ask us here? Please follow Zachyy's advice.
