MacOS-Inspired Personal Portfolio Website
Hello, I am a Computer Science student currently working on a personal portfolio website to showcase my skills and creativity. I’m reaching out to kindly ask for permission and clarification regarding Apple’s intellectual property rights.
For my portfolio, I am designing the interface to look like a MacBook desktop. The idea is to create a more engaging and innovative experience that stands out from traditional portfolios. On the desktop, I plan to place folders representing my different projects, and I will also add a dock similar to the macOS dock, including icons that resemble Apple’s Maps, Safari, Photos, Music, Mail, and Settings.
Each of these icons will serve a functional and creative purpose. For example, clicking on the Maps icon will show my location, the Safari icon will open my CV, Photos will showcase my hobbies, Music will display an AI-generated hobby project of song tracks, and the YouTube icon will link to a video where I demonstrate how I built a drone from scratch. I also plan to include a Terminal icon that opens a custom AI assistant built with the Mistral language model.
This project is strictly personal, non-commercial, and intended only to demonstrate my technical and design skills. However, I understand that Apple’s icons and design elements are protected by intellectual property laws. Before I publish the site online, I want to ensure that I am not violating any of Apple’s IP rights, and I would like to ask whether I may proceed with this concept using redesigned versions of the app icons mentioned.
I would greatly appreciate any guidance you could provide. Thank you for your time and consideration.
