I have been inserting photos successfully into Pages for years. Suddenly, it inserts surrounded by a rectangle and cannot resize or move. What has changed?

If you insert an image with a transparent background, you will see the bounding box as a thin line around the entire image. If it is a heavy blue border, then press the escape key to dismiss that artifact. One should then be able to drag diagonally on a corner grip to resize the image proportionately.
I have just inserted a transparent background image into Pages v14.4 on iPadOS v18.5. The selection lines are thin blue lines representing the bounding box around the transparent background. Is the blue line that you describe this normal selection line or a thicker blue line (which I cannot reproduce)?
With the normal blue selection lines, I can choose the right-lower grip and with one finger press and drag diagonally to increase or reduce the proportional image size. I can also click the paint brush toolbar icon and that presents a Style, Image, or Arrange sidebar allowing me the ability to resize and reposition the image, or even rotate it.
Thanks for your reply. I can remove the blue line on my iPad but the photo cannot be resized or moved. This only happened today. It has worked for all the months I have been using it.
