Can’t call using HomePod Mini

when I ask Siri to call somebody, she says that my iPad is unavailable. She says that I need to make sure it’s up-to-date and powered on, which it is. I’m stumped! what to do!?

Homepod and iPhone won't respond Both my Homepod mini and iPhone 15 pro are on the latest versions. When I'm at my desk with the two devices sitting about a foot apart neither responds when I say "Siri" or "Hey Siri". They both light up that they heard me but then they just stop. They respond normally when my iPhone is not on my desk though. I tried powering both off and on again but I still get the same results. From what I have found it seems like the way it is supposed to work is which ever device hears me the best takes over but it seems like the devices are just assuming the other heard me better. Thoughts?

Homepod mini stops listening A weird thing has started happening the last few days. When I say 'hey siri' i see the colour visuals on the homepod light up indicating it's listening, but almost immediately it goes blank and doesn't respond to my request. I think this is when my iphone also hears my 'hey siri' as the siri visualisation briefly pops up on screen, but neither device responds. Anyone else? Is there a way to set a preferred device perhaps, when multiple devices hear my request? Thanks, Matt

do you also have an iphone? because the homepod or iPad would not be able to make normal phone calls only apple facetime audio calls
