Why is my Mail app freezing after iOS 18.5 update?

When will Apple push the fix for the mail app freeze since update 18.5?

All off a sudden my emails freeze up. White screen or cannot see the emails at all. Screen freezes up too.

Have already deleted and reinstalled the app, but still the same issue.

I have the same issue. Probably started about a week ago now. I am using the mail app to read my mail on a hosted site, not from i cloud or apple mail. White spaces where a mail would be, sometimes nothing shows in mailbox. When I minimise it I can clearly see contents but cannot read, select or operate mail.

iPhone 15 Plus is doing the same thing as of yesterday. I’ve cleared my history, force stopped the app, and shut my device off. That helped temporarily, but it started again this morning. The screen goes black and shows nothing, or it completely freezes. It’s not retrieving new mail without a reboot. You’d think fixing this bug would be a priority.

It stays stuck saying “connecting.” I have to restart my phone every morning to get it to work. Come on Apple, issue a fix for essential app already!

same issue started yesterday 06/04/25 for me. mail app freezes and goes black. restart of phone only fixes issue temporarily. iphone 13 max pro.

Same issue here. The mail app freezes. The one of three apps I depend on and the IOS 18.5 upgrade freezes it. Apple used to have their stuff together. This is unacceptable.

This issue appeared on my phone several days after installing IOS 18.5, which may be significant. Once it started, the problem was very frequent. That suggested that the problem might be on a mail server rather than just in the IOS release.

Looking at my settings under "Fetch New Data", my iCloud account stood out as the only one set to "Push". As a temporary measure, I disabled that account on my phone, and that seemed to cure the problem. I have now re-enabled it, but set it to Fetch (Automatically, as with my other accounts). It is too early to say that the problem is banished, but I suspect that it might be.

Same issue here 14 pro plus. Just start s yesterday. I don’t see any response about he fix yet other than restarting the phone????

After update 18.5 mail app keeps on freezing … can’t do anything unless i restart the iPhone

Ditto. Started 2 days ago. Intermittently email freezes, screen doesn’t display any emails, or cannot connect.

I did something similar, but cant even remember where to go. I dont have i cloud mail, but I also turned something to push or fetch, and its now fixed.
