How do I delete excess messages in iCloud that don't appear on my iPhone 15 Pro?

When i go into iCloud in settings, it says i have 44,318 messages but i don't have that many in the messages app on my iPhone15 Pro. How do i get rid of the ones in iCloud on IOS?
