I used the eggplant emoji 1x in 6 months (as a joke). It has been months since I used it and it will not disappear from the “recently used” emojis section… why is that?! We ALL know what that emoji means. I have updated my phone, turned it off and on, used hundreds of different emojis since and yet still.. there it is.

Have you tried deleting and re-adding the Emoji Keyboard? Go to Settings app > General > Keyboard > Keyboards > Swipe left on the Emoji Keyboard to delete, then tap Add New Keyboard and search for the Emoji Keyboard.

I couldn't tell you how the Recents gets figured, but I can tell you I've seen a number of things remain there for quite a while after I use something as well. Hahaha, no (thank God) but I need to be verrrrry careful when crafting a text that that uses emojis 😟😥 Feels like playing that game Operation 😂

Thank you @Zachyy! I’ll give this a try. If that doesn’t work, I’ll try @ChrisJ4203’s suggestion of going to the Apple Feedback link. Appreciate the help here.. it is now 2.5 months later and still.. the eggplant haunts my every text to coworkers, family, and church friends 😬🫣🙃
