What happens if I add my Spotify RSS to an existing Apple Podcast?
Okay, I've made a mistake many people in other groups seem to have. I started an Apple podcast AND a Spotify podcast. I did the Apple one because I could immediately post paid subscriptions, but also someone I thought I could trust advised me that Spotify couldn't distribute to Apple. So, I now have an Apple podcast with paid subscriptions and a lot of subscribers BUT NO RSS FEED - thus, it's not being distributed to Overcast, etc. BIG PROBLEM.
I contact Spotify and I've received numerous confusing answers. They don't seem to know what they're doing. But they've suggested -- and I've found some stuff online -- that I add my Spotify RSS feed to my existing Apple Podcast.
Everything I've read suggests this means the metadata of Spotify will replace the metadata at Apple...which, in theory, would be okay as they have the same content with one exception--
My posted paywalled episodes on Apple.
So, here are my direct questions:
- Can I add the Spotify RSS feed to an existing Apple Podcast without blowing up my Apple Podcast?
- Will my paywalled episodes remain up at Apple if I add the Spotify RSS feed?
- Will my subscribers at Apple, my star ratings, and my comments remain after the meta data is merged?
Thanks so much!
