How to resolve Verification block with Mountain Lion Installer
I am running Lion on a 2007 iMac 7.1. I am attempting to upgrade and install Mountain Lion but find the install process is blocked by a window saying installer cannot be verified and I should re-download via the Apple Store. This is not possible as Apple store no longer connects to legacy browsers.
I downloaded the installer package application direct from Apple to Lion using Legacy Firefox. The Package opened and installed the .dmg installer in Applications on Lion, just as you would expect. But installation was blocked by verification. The choice offered was either Apple store or Cancel.
A search finally found an article stating the verification problem could be fixed :
- By changing the computer OSX date to 1/10/2012. This made a small improvement to installer disk preparation but the verification block remained.
- An article advised opening Terminal and type: xattr -cr "wherever your installer is, drag and drop into Terminal and remove quotes".
I tried both code options with no result. I have no understanding of Terminal instructions and need step by step assistance. Dropping the installer into Terminal simply resulted in a file location/ description. There were no quotes.
I would appreciate help in resolving this issue.
