Hi, My iPod is no longer working and I am looking for a replacement to play my iTunes Library on my old MacBook Pro (mostly burned CDs). Note I don't have an iTunes subscription, these are songs I've saved. Any ideas?
These days, a lot of people use iPhones and Android phones as digital music players – on top of everything else. If you have an iPhone, you can load music purchased on CD onto it, in much the same way that you would load it onto an iPod.

If you are worried about a player getting damaged or stolen, there are third-party digital music players that you can buy. I'm guessing that by now, most will play both MP3s and non-DRMed AACs (including iTunes Store purchases). But the procedures to load one will be different than for the now-discontinued iPods and iPod touches.
If you have the MP3s on your MacBook, pretty much any MP3 player will do. Check a retailer like Amazon or Walmart for options. If you have special requirements, e.g., waterproof unit for swimming, check carefully.
Be aware that a non-Apple player cannot be automatically synced to your MacBook the way you did it with the iPod. You can follow the instructions for the player, which will probably call for drag-n-drop from Finder.
If you want something more portable than your MacBook, consider a dedicated DAP or even an Android device with a good media player app (like Poweramp or VLC). They support MP3 and other formats, and you can transfer your music easily via USB.
