How do I hide the page number indicator in Apple Books on MacBook?

The page number indicator on the top right (ex. 1 of 740) usually disappears when using the app on my phone, and also my MacBook when not on full screen. However, when I read books on my MacBook using full screen, the page number indicator shows up and just stays there, even after I tried clicking on the page to make it disappear. How do I get it to disappear?

Apple Books app Hello, I’ve noticed that Books app is changed, changed for the worse. app control became small and many functions like page turning is gone. I don't understand the craze of making the controls appear and disappear, as if one had to guess where they are and always remember where they are. all to make a beautiful but not very functional product.why? Please study a fine app for the books…please.

How do I go to the next page in Books without the sliding animation bit? I'm reading a book on the mac. I press the R arrow key to go to the next page. I get a slide show. The page slides off to the left, something goes dark, and then I get my page. I just want to get the page. It's really annoying the way it is, and I can't find any settings for this. TIA! BTW, it's not as bad pressing the L arrow key to go back a page, but I read books in the forward direction. macOS 12.6.2 Books
