Why can't I open Apple Books on my Mac mini (Monterrey 12.7.6) when they work on other devices?

Mac mini Monterrey 12.7.6 Get the message when trying to open books (purchased from apple) that I have read before in this Mac mini.

Can open read these same books in my MacBook Pro 2015 and my iPhone 14.

Error message reads:

Cannot open xxx

"it is formatted incorrectly, or its not a format that Apple Books can open".

Unable to open Current reads on Books after iPad update. I recently updated my ipad to iOS 17.4. After the update I was able to use apple Books to read epub files as normal. After closing the app fully though and trying to open the files, they now won't open at all. I can't get them to open from my library or from the continue reading section. Why won't my PDFs open in Apple Books? I save plenty of info as PDFs in Books. The last time I accessed one of these files was yesterday (7/31/24). Today, none of these PDFs will open. There is no error message. I’ve force restarted iPad. Closed the Books app. Same issue. iOS is up-to-date (7/30/24). I was able to access the PDFs after the update so the update doesn’t appear to be the issue . Called Apple—aside from restarting iPad and closing the Books their ideas—delete the app or reset network settings. Neither of these are good options for me. [Re-Titled by Moderator]

Apple books format problem When I open the book on my iPhone, it says “cannot open book, it is formatted incorrectly, or it is not format that apple books can open.” but it was working just fine.. it sort of glitched suddenly.. how can I fix this?
