Untrustworthy App charged my Apple Cash. I reported and App is Permanently Locked.

I downloaded an AI app for $3.99. Used it for 2 days, hated it. Stopped using it. It charged—and got—another $7.99 charge.


I reached out to Apple over two phone calls, an hours and a half and five different support people. They cannot dispute my $$ because the account is locked. To dispute they would have to create an ENTIRE new Apple ID for me (have had mine since the 90s, no thanks). There is nothing they can do.


I went to website of App, all links work except “Contact Us.” Called them, got busy signal. Basically, they have my $7.99 and I will never be able to use Apple Cash again.


Also, the people who help for Apple Cash aren’t that smart, is this seems very much like BS for a company like Apple with such good customer service.


App was Glam AI.


I’m deeply annoyed and what a complete waste of time.

Apple is not a bank, so they must use a bank to maintain accounts and follow governmental regulations, and in this case it is Green Dot bank. There is nothing Apple can do in regards to your account and that is true for any company branded financial card.


I don't see a charge to download the app in the App Store as it is showing a free download, but you do need to pay for a subscription for most features. A free trial will always become a subscription and you will need to pay if that trial was not cancelled at least 24 hours before its expiration date. That is what you would have agreed to when starting a free trial within the app where all of the information is visible on the screen that requires you to double click the side button, followed by verification using Face ID/Passcode.


It sounds like GreenDot has determined that you are a "risk" and have chosen not to do business with you any longer. You can certainly file a complaint with the CFPB to report your experience with Green Dot Bank. They claim that you will get a response within 15 days.
