Logic Pro export track is doubling

I created a vocal track by recording on several separate tracks and then assembled different parts into a single tracks. I used an EQ plugin and a reverb plugin in the assembled track. Wgen listening to it while in Logic Pro (v11), it sounds fine. I select all the clips and export “selected”, the exported wav file has the vocals doubled with a slight detail. Same results even when turning off all plugins. I’m stumped! FYI, in a prior project, I brought in an (unrelated) finished stereo track, used the stem splitting feature so I could increase the volume of parts of a vocal track. I did that by recording track fader movement (automation). I learned that in order to integrate the fader automatiion in the export, I had to use a “bounce” feature which created a new track that raised the volume of the parts affected by the automated fader movement (and the new no longer needed automation. I’m wondering if something associated with the bouncing process - a setting??? - on the old project is related to this issue I’m having with the new project? Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated. Thanks / bruce.

Once again, thanks yoyoBen for your reply.

I think I figured it out.

When I was exporting, I selected all the clips - even the muted ones on tracks 3 - 8, and chose File>Export>Selection as Audio File. I suspect this created the doubled voice, as if this export method disregards the mute.

I have since used the File>Bounce>Project or Selection, and it works without issue. (I highlighted 2 guitar tracks and the 1 vocal track)

Also, I highlighted just tracks that I wanted to use (at the track level, not the clips; 3 tracks in my example), and then File>Export>3 Tracks as Audio File, and that worked as well.

I'm a noobie with Logic Pro and clearly I have a lot to learn.

Thank you for your replies and hopefully, this experience can help others.

Thanks, yoyoBen, for your response.

I've attached a screenshot that shows the window and the mixer. Tracks (Audio) 3 through (Audio) 8 were various recordings of the vocal; you'll notice these are muted. I then copied the excerpts that I wanted to use into Track 9 (Vocal Assembly Track), which is the only vocal track I used.

Also, here's a link to allow you to hear the problem. The file "TDIFMY-in Logic-trim" is the sound when played in Logic (sorry for the "thin" sound... it's the best I can do). The file "TDIFMY-sample-v5-trim" is what was exported. You'll hear the vocal doubling issue with this one. Please note that for this exported sample, all plugins were disabled.

Let me know if you need anything else.

thnx/ bruce
