How to start page numbering from chapter 1 in Pages book template?

I gave up on adding page numbers in Roman numerals to the introductory pages of my book. I want to add page numbers starting with Chapter 1 with page 1 and not page 1 on all the following pages. I don't want added blank pages, either. Why is this so difficult? How do I start with Page 1 on the page that is Chapter 1 and have the following pages be page 2 and then 3 and then 4, etc. with no numbers on the beginning info before Chapter 1?
