iPad remains at a black screen even after a factory reset with computer

Hi all, how are you?

I have an iPad 9 that is showing a black screen, and still has a black screen even after a forced reset using the power & home button. However, the apple logo does appear, but only during an attempted restore/update from my windows laptop, but the restore fails, stating an unknown error (9).

I've tried everything, a forced reset and putting it into restore mode, but the screen stays black. The forced reset appears to work in the background because, even though I can't see the screen, the iPad does detach and reattach as it apparently restarts.

When I plug it into my laptop, using either an aftermarket or genuine lightning cable, my laptop / iTunes / Apple Devices recognises it & tells me the iPad is in DFU mode. Update is greyed out & I can only choose Update & Restore. Choosing this, the new update is downloaded, unpacked and the attempted restore process starts, at which point the apple logo appears on the iPad, the iPad detaches & reattaches a couple or 3 times from my laptop (windows disconnect & connect sounds), the progress bar also appears under the apple logo on the iPad, but then the process fails and displays an error 9 & the iPad screen goes off & remains off until I repeat the sane process.

I've tried everything recommended by numerous sites, relating to a black screen, but alas, nothing works. My software is all up to date. I've tried on a fairly new windows 11 laptop, and on an older windows 10 laptop, all software being up to date.

Is the iPad bricked, or is there something I can do, or a piece of software I can use?

Thank you for your time and help

Paul.
