Hi, that seems odd for a new MacBook.

By any chance did you encounter any pop-up stating that apps can only be signed and installed through the App Store?

Assuming you did download apps from respective websites?

If that’s the case, check if there’s a version of the app in the App Store; otherwise, General settings -> Privacy & Security -> close to the bottom you can change the Security setting (Allow applications from …

You don’t. You just use the account that works.
Since you have nothing on it, use Erase All Content and Settings and try setting it up again.

Another option would be to return it. Apple offers a 14-day no questions asked return policy. There is certainly something wrong with it. It could be the macOS installation, or it could be something worse.

Personally, I do not use Google Chrome or Microsoft Edge or any other Microsoft Windows Applications on any of my 3 Apple Computers

That I leave to my ancient Lenovo T460 Laptop

As for Firefox, using version 138.0.4 (aarch64)on all there machines without issue ( 1 M2, 1 M3 and yes 1 M4 )

Let us see what is going on with the computer

To skip the Q&A session, just download the Application Etrecheck directly from the Developer.

Thank you

Though as mentioned on May 22

Any of the LSD crashes appearing in Console log disappeared

That is, until the next release of a possible Sequoia 15.6 that still in the AppleSeed Beta Program as of June 30th

Will keep the Onyx idea in mind

Thanks a lot for your input! Yes, I downloaded Chrome, Edge, Firefox, and OneDrive directly from their official sites. I would be more than happy with just Chrome, but when it didn't launch decided to try Edge and FireFox, as through Safari I can not enter one drive web.

I didn’t see any Gatekeeper pop-ups, and under Privacy & Security, the setting already allows apps from identified developers. No permission prompts appeared, the apps just crash instantly on launch.

This Mac has the M4 chip and came with macOS Sequoia 15.5 (build 24F74) preinstalled, so I’m assuming it’s an early compatibility issue. Mostly wondering if anyone else with the same setup has seen this — or found any workarounds while we wait for broader support.

Interestingly, EtreCheck itself froze when I clicked “Share Report”, so I had to use Copy Report to Clipboard instead.

Copy Report to Clipboard is the primary "Share Report" functionality. It seems to have worked.

Except for one repeatable crash with Chrome, I don't see any problem.

Microsoft and OneDrive are behaving as expected. This is a common complaint. There's even a meme about it:

Usually most people want to get rid of OneDrive. I even cancelled my Microsoft subscription and downloaded the apps again via the Mac App Store. That way, they aren't constantly updating. I don't even have OneDrive installed.

I think there is some problem here, but it isn't a hardware problem. Your Chrome crash indicates that Google was running from an external volume or disk image. The most common crash is from an internal stickers daemon. That's unusual.

My recommendation would be to reset the computer. When you set it up again, be more careful about installing 3rd party apps. EtreCheck will be useful. You can keep running that to check for these kinds of repeated crashes. If they start happening again, you'll know that it must have been something that you recently installed.

Just bought MacAir M4, sequoia 15.5, couldn't install Chrome, Edge, Onedrive, Firefox,

All of the information you provided appears that you installed them, but they crash. I would imagine something is amiss in the Mac.

Why not use another account if it works?

You note the machine is “clean,” but you are having problems with lots of third-party software. Doesn’t sound clean.

Just bought MacAir and would like to migrate from a Microsoft laptop, still having access to my OneDrive.

Here’s what I’m facing:

Chrome, Edge, and Firefox all crash immediately on launch (EXC_BREAKPOINT (SIGTRAP))

OneDrive won't start and gives error code -2, -93

Microsoft Word and Excel can access OneDrive files, but I have no proper browser access or system sync

Safari often freezes or doesn’t fully load login.microsoft.com

This machine is clean (no user data), and I’d prefer not to use another macOS user account as a workaround.

My questions:

Is this known behavior for early Sequoia builds on M4 Macs?

Is there any timeline for Chrome, Edge, or OneDrive compatibility with this system?

Any recommended workarounds or dev tools to simulate a browser session?

Thanks in advance for any advice or insights from others working with the same setup.
