Why doesn’t Channel EQ show audio waveform in Final Cut Pro?

I was watching a video on YouTube about using the Channel EQ in Final Cut Pro, but for some reason mine is not working like the one on the video. When I apply the Channel EQ effect to an audio clip I expected the audio would show up in the Advanced Effects Editor UI, but it doesn't. What am I missing?
