Unable to access Prime Video on my iMac

I used to be able to access Prime Video from my dock. But starting yesterday I no longer can? When I try a load the Prime Video app I keep getting the message You can't use this version of the app "Prime Video" with this version of macOS. You have the macOS 12.7.6 and the app requires macOS 12.0 or later. Frankly doesn't make sense? Isn't 12.7 above 12.0 OS. I've tried using Amazon for help in trying to resolve this problem, but I'm just chasing my tail there!!!!! So, can the Apple community be of help? This problem seemed to start yesterday after I tried to use the app "find me". I had to sign into my Apple account to do so. But it seems there after the problem with the Prime Video app started. I used to have app installed on my computer and was located in the dock at the bottom of the screen. But, now that app shows a white cross through it, showing it is not operative. So, the attempts to install it again. To no avail. I need help! Can anyone shed some light on what is happening? Appreciate any help.

Yes, it is. So it should install.

Not sure what app you are referring to, but that's unlikely to have caused the issue with Amazon Prime.

Do you mean "Find My"?

Why?

What happens when you try to install it again?

You would need to remove it first from the Mac. To do, so go to the Applications Folder in Finder, and drag the app to the trash can. This should remove it from the dock too.

Then open the Mac App Store and try to download the App again.

If you get any error messages, please post them here.

Also, post a screen shot of what happens when you click on the App on the Dock so we can see the error message.

Hello Phil0124,

Thank you for your detailed reply. When I try and install it again I just keep getting the same message, You can’t use this version of the application “Prime Video” with this version of macOS. "You have macOS 12.7.6. The application requires macOS 12.0 or later." I get that message no matter how many times I try to reinstall the app.

I can probably remove the app icon from the dock but haven't yet. The app icon just sits there with a white cross though it. Frankly, not sure the app is installed. But if is NOT installed why is it in my dock?

When I follow your instructions about the Mac App Store and downloading the app from there, I just keep getting the VERY same error message. You can’t use this version of the application “Prime Video” with this version of macOS. "You have macOS 12.7.6. The application requires macOS 12.0 or later."

And that seems to be the real issue here. I can 't download that darn app, no how no way. Even though I should be able to? 12.7 supersedes 12.0!

I'm not having much luck in posting a screen shot I get when I try and download the app. But it is as I have stated.

Certainly appreciate your help if you can some how remedy this peculiar and bazaar problem. If this is a Amazon problem they don't seem to recognize it? Thanks a bunch, Phil0124

6x6,

Thanks for your reply. Not sure about the version 10.76 Amazon Prime Video app? The ONLY info I get when I try and download the app is as stated. You can’t use this version of the application “Prime Video” with this version of macOS. "You have macOS 12.7.6. The application requires macOS 12.0 or later." that is the ONLY response I get when I try and download the app from no matter where I try and download it.

Are you stating that Amazon Prime Video's new version is 10.76. How does that relate to my imac 12.7 version that I'm using to try and load the app? Thank you, 6x6. Appreciate your help.

Hi dialabrain,

I'm new to using my Mac. So I'm going to need some help if you could provide that help. Understand it appears Prime Video won't work with my Monterey 12.7. Does that in your opinion explain the error message I keep getting when I try and download the app?

What is macOS 13? I presume it is a newer version? Can you please explain "Time Machine"? Could you please explain how I could backup Prime Video 10.63. to my Mac. Or, direct me to instructions of how to use Time Machine? Appreciate your help, dialabrain.

So, even though I can't download the Prime Video app. I really don't even need it to watch a sporting event on Prime Video. Just pay the subscription fee and I'm good to go. Great. Solves that problem all together I guess, regardless of Prime 10.63 or 10.67.

Correct - I've watched live Liverpool matches on Prime in Firefox, and I just make it full screen; the same when I'm watching a Prime movie. I actually didn't even know there was a Prime Video app! So yes, you're good to go.
