My hard drive has been illegally reformatted and important files erased. On reformatting a hard drive does the computer leave a tag on the hard drive stating the last time it was reformatted ?

a British police officer accessed my hard drive for evidence I granting that officer permission to do so. When the information on the hard drive showed I was innocent of charges laid against me that officer reformatted the drive and destroyed defence evidence
that officers senior inspector has since had that officer moved from his department and the shift departmental sergeant has apologised for the manner in which I had been treat
this officers actions now being investigated for potential charges of perverting the course of justice. A prison sentence awaits this officer if found guilty
Thank you all for your replies. Yes I have a lawyer looking at this. If ,once I get access to my hard drive it does transpire on investigation that this officer has tampered with defence evidence, then it’s good night Josephine I’m afraid for that officers career.
I should add, if anything was added to the drive after it was formatted then the creation date of the files would be a clue.
