How to remove a song from Apple Music playlist without deleting it from the library?

Running iOS 18 on my iPad and iPhone. I open the playlist. I see the song I want to delete from that playlist. There is a … (more) ellipsis to the right. I tap on this. The options are delete from library, add to a playlist, play next, etc. No option to remove from playlist.

if I swipe left on the song I am warned I will delete it from my library.

looking at earlier discussions this has been a problem for several years now. I have never seen a discussion in which the question asker replies “thanks, that worked.”

wondering: does it make any difference is the song I want to delete was purchased through Apple Music?

Most of my music was downloaded from CDs I own, through ITunes, years ago.
