How can I unlock my Mac mini when I forgot the password using Apple Account?

I forgot the password to unlock my old M1 Mac Mini. It had prompted me once to use my iCloud to unlock it but I wasn't connected to the internet at that moment so I exited out. I have since connected it to the internet via ethernet cable but I can not get it to prompt me for my iCloud password again to unlock it and the lockout timer continues to get longer and longer. Even restarting the computer / unplugging it does not seem to trigger the prompt again. Is there a way to force this prompt?
