Unable to add card on my iPhone 16 Apple Pay

I had iphone 12 and apple pay was working flawlessly. Got a iphone 16. Didn’t change any settings and since the transfer I am not able to add any cards. I live in The Netherlands and the cards are compatible with apple pay. When I try to add the card it takes me to the bank’s app and it gets stuck on last step to connect the card. Same happened when I tried with another bank card and app. It is stuck in “add to apple wallet”. I have ios 18.5. Just updated. Can someone help?

What banks? If the card is actually taking you to the banks app, that’s not an Apple behavior. It sounds like there’s a setting in the app that may need to be enabled. That has been reported before that when they contacted their bank the support team member told them to go to the app and enable the card for use with Apple Pay.


Have you spoken to the bank’s support team about the issue? If so, what did they say?

How it works (in the Netherlands) is : when we try to add card (debit card on this case) to the wallet, it asks permission to enter the bank’s app (with facial recognition). There its an easy step to add the already existing card to apple wallet. Somehow for 2 banks it got stuck at the last step and both customer service said its not a problem from them but from apple or the phone itself. (I had already had the cards on my apple wallet for my old iphone, I removed them there to add them to the new one but still doesn’t work).
