Why can't I purchase apps without asking in Family Sharing?

okay so I’m in as a child in family sharing (older than 13) and I currently have ask to buy enabled. Now before the previous software update I was able to purchase things without asking through the family sharing purchases section of the AppStore, but now I can’t. Is there any solution to this? Because I think I’m going insane.

Unable to ‘get’ apps from App Store on child ID on family sharing We have set up a family account with our 10 year old but are nothing happens when we click the get button on his iPad in the app store. Purchase approval is enabled but we are not even able to get that far and can’t add any apps at all from the App Store
