Why does my MacBook Air show 63 GB storage usage for apps that only use 3 GB?

My apps only use about 3gb of storage however my macbook says that it uses 63 gb which is impossible, is this a glitch? I use macos sonoma 14.5.

How has it been determined “ My apps only use about 3gb of storage “ ?

Where does this 3 GB figure come from ?

Perhaps a screen shot of what and where is 3 GB is appearing ?

Interesting and running macOS 15.5 Sequoia

When I go System Setting >> General >> Storage >> Applications

It is showing 8.1 GB of applications

When I click the small I in circle

Low and behold the 8.1 GB matches the previous figures

Just saying.

In the original premise is incorrect all other calculations will be equally incorrect and misleading
