Can I Buy AppleCare+ for an iPhone Purchased in the U.S. After It’s Delivered Abroad?

Hi everyone,

I’ll soon be receiving an iPhone 16 Pro that someone is kindly bringing for me from the U.S. to Nicaragua. I’ll be staying in Nicaragua for about a month and a half, then returning to my permanent residence in Mexico.

I’d prefer to buy AppleCare+ myself — using my own Apple ID and card — once the phone is in my hands. I’d rather not ask the person bringing it to handle that part.

Is it okay to purchase AppleCare+ after the phone is activated in Nicaragua? And will the coverage be valid once I’m back in Mexico?

Thank you so much for your help!

Sorry, no you can't. Your new phone won't have warranty in Nicaraga. If anything is wrong with the phone and if it needs to be replaced, it will need to be brought back to the US for service.
